New Jcrew Ochre Ikat Skirt

Over the weekend, I visited a couple of JCrew stores, but I didn't see too much that I had to have or even needed to photograph--I think some of the items are still on their way to the store.

One item I really liked was the new Ochre Ikat pencil skirt, pictured below...

Item number 16062, $88. I have on a size 10 here. I like that there are pockets but they are built into the front instead of the side seams, so they lie flat. I love the colors of peach, ochre, yellow, and ivory together. Not sure what I would wear with this but I think the fabric is really pretty. The SA said there was a retail-only cardigan but it sold out in the same print.

Anyone seen this skirt? Like it? Buy it? Weigh in!

  1. Skirt is very cute - I love the colors. AppGal paired it with teal and it looked really good.

And knowing me, I would probably put navy with it. :)

  5. I had a question, if it's not too much info to give out... did you have to go up a size for this skirt? I may be wrong, but I thought you wore a size 8 usually and this skirt is a 10. My local jcrew store doesn't sale this skirt so I'm ordering it online... So I'm just trying to get a better idea about its fit!

Thanks in advance for any input you care to share! :)

  6. Hi, I have looked at your blog and enjoy it but never posted before - skirt looks really nice on you. I'd say the skirt fits smaller than usual as I usually don't fit pencil skirts without having them tailored. On me it (Sz 0) sits at my hips and is knee length - I'm 5'8". I think it is really pretty although would have preferred if it were lined. If someone tells me how to post pics I can show what I put with it - and don't laugh - I have the tuxedo front cheetah print cami - and the new 4 pocket cashmere cardi in the deep melon color (?store only color - darker than the online melon). I am quite adventurous eg I mix patterns, but got a lot of compliments on the combo. Shoes were dusty rose spectator peep toes.

  7. The skirt looks great on you! I hope you decided to keep it. I bought this over the weekend with the 20% off, and it's supposed to arrive today. I ordered a 10 and am a little worried that it will be snug. I suppose that's further incentive to drop a few pounds! If mine looks half as good on me as yours does on you, I'll be pleased!

  8. Thanks all for your comments! I keep thinking about this skirt, probably will have to come home with me eventually.

Regarding sizing questions, I usually default to a size 10 as I am more pear shaped, so I err on the looser or bigger size on bottoms. For comparison, I am wearing a 10 in the Bistro and Saturday pants, and an 8 in the Cocktail Capri, size 30 in the High Heel Flares, and a 10 in most dresses.

    Hope this helps!

  9. Anonymous...

I was actually going to pair the skirt with the Tuxedo-front solid cami in Bronzed Sand ;) Would love to see your outfit put together, I'm not sure how to post pictures in a comment though.
